9 Silver week that includes a 2 Barber Quarter day

What a great week. My cousin Bob aka DrBobinMo came to visit for a few days of hunting. We had a BLAST and I always love spending time with him not matter what we are doing, especially detecting. This trip was especially neat because we had very little home obligations and were able to go hunting and hang out together without many interruptions.

We hunted a variety of parks and even a school. Bob was extremely helpful on the research end of things and I learned a ton. We did a whole mess of recon missions to various locations and I now have a handful of places within a 45 minute drive that I can hunt anytime. Thanks Bob!

So keep in mind this was not a 5 full days of hunting parks that produce, but a full 5 days of hunting many many locations to find locations for me for the future.

With that said, I did have a personal best week ever, although who knows what I would of ended up with if we had stayed at the places that produced.

Anyway, just a few weeks ago I got my first multiple Barber day (two dimes), this week I had another multiple Barber day, but this time they weren't dimes :) but two Barber Quarters!!! The first one (1904 Barber Quarter) I dug was at 7 inches deep and read very nice. In that same area we were pulling injuns from that time frame and once I heard the sweet sound of silver, I just knew I had something special even before I dug it.

The second Barber Quarter was found at another park where we had been digging coins from the 20's and 30's. I got one of my Merc's and a Rosie there and a handful of Wheaties and as it turned to nightfall, we continued to hunt there trying to squeeze out a few more swings. I got a deep 3 way signal that sounded sweet and as I was digging the plug Bob came over and helped me because it was so dark we could barely see. He re-pinpointed it for me and confirmed it was still in the middle of the whole at about 7 plus inches, so Bob gets down and spots the coin at the bottom of the whole and says "Your not going to believe this...you got another Barber Quarter (1899) - Way to go Michelob!!!" I was amazed and literally fell over with joy. Wow what a feeling. That day I totaled 5 silver coins my personal best - the 2 Barber Quarters of course, a Rosie and 2 Mercs oh and also 3 injuns :) It was so cool to have Bob there sharing the experience with me. I will never forget it.

Thanks Bob for an amazing trip!

My totals for the week were:

2 Barber Quarters - 1899, 1904

6 Mercs - 1925, 1936, 1939, Two - 1942's (and yes I checked them both for the strike 42/41 - no luck), 1943

1 Rosie - 1950

6 Injuns - 1891, 1899, Two - 1903's, 1906, 1909

1914 - Canada One Cent

50 plus Wheaties - I lost count

Awesome week, congratulations ! I'd love to hear the details about the research that went into locating these spots , I'd like to find some spots here in central Fla. near my home.

great finds, way to go and keep it up!

Yes, we didn't stay very long but I managed to pull out another 3 Indian Heads and Bob pulled out a semi-key date Barber dime that I am sure he will post about later. That park only seems to produce anything in one corner. I may have to purchase a larger coil (haven't yet decied on one yet) and head back there to see what other goodies may be deeper.

Now that is a lot of great finds and the best part is that you got to spend some time detecting with your Cousin Bob. You did very well with Silver again and getting 2 Barber Quarters in 1 day is just awesome! Congrats on that load of finds and hope many more are in your future. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.

Congratulations! That's a very good week. Especially finding two Barber Quarters in one week. Most of us can go quite a while without finding one.
I know its been quite a while since I found my last one. Long enough that I'd have to check my records as I can't remember when it was offhand.

Awesome finds man! I need to get on here more often. Everyone's diggin' great stuff, but I don't seem to log on anymore unless I find something and log on to post. . .

Those Barber quarters look great too - that's one of my favorite coins. I think the back of 'em look fantastic.

Good hunting,

Mark

Nice finds Michelob
