Its been a tough fall/winter hunting season this year for me, but I finally snagged my 99th and 100th silver coin for the year. My better half had some errands to run this morning and since I don't do well un-supervised around the house, I decided to put a couple hours of hunting time in on one of our old parks. It is my hunting buddy and my favorite spot. Although it has been pounded to death over the years, there are still a few nooks and crannies that on occasion still give up a goody hear and there.

I had the 5 x 10 DD coil on running in de mode, 0 disc, sen 75 to 90, depending on the trash content, no notch, 3h tones and DST off. About 20 minutes or so into the hunt I hit the 57d Rosie 3-4' out from the base of a tree, maybe 5" deep. At the one hour and 45 minute hunting time mark working along a curb I got a high tone tic mingled among mid tones. On a couple of the swings I saw a tid flash of 85-86 and decided to dig. From about 4" I recovered the 53d Washington along with a rusty tac and two small pieces of can slaw. And, the quarter was totally on edge. Nice little trophy for # 100. And, I promptly called it a wrap. Merry Christmas one and all. HH jim tn

That's not luck that you found 100 silver coins this year. Wish I could have came close to that but I've still had a lot of fun hunting and learning with my f5. Jim thanks for all your posts and helpful information that you past on, MERRY CHRISTMAS my friend.

largear, unless my hunting buddy finds us a new fresh spot that is good, I'll take the 100 for next year right now and run with it. LOL Merry Christmas all, HH jim tn

Congrats, Jim

That is a dream come true silver year.

Thanks Ron, and all.

I've been fortunate since I retired in the summer of 2006 to be able to devote 3-5 or so hours almost daily to detecting. Also fortunate that I've had a few spots that if one is willing to work through the trash some good finds can still be made. Although I don't actually set finds goals, that 100 mark kind of always nags at me to achieve annually and except for a couple of years since retiring, I have achieved and exceeded it. At years end, for kicks, I'll show a spread of my coin finds and some of the jewelry pieces for this year. Not quite as much jewelry as some other years, however.

I only ever own two detectors. Since retiring my main detector has been a F 75. Started with the regular F 75, graduated to the LTD and early this year to the DST model. My second detector, which, I consider a backup, has either been an Omega 8000 or a A T Pro. But the backups do see some good use. Once we celebrate Christmas I will be sporting an Omega 8500, which has replaced my A T Pro. Quite begrudgingly, I will admit. The A T is an awfully good detector and its water proof feature let me hunt some days I other wise wouldn't have.

Anyway, finding silver never gets old for me and the hobby as a whole has gone a long way to keeping me healthy thus far. Merry Christmas all, HH jim tn
