9x8 coil for cibola

So I was wondering, is the light gray part on the bottom a scuff cover? I received my used one yesterday and it's my first H.O.T. circuit machine.
Is that part of the coil or a cover I can remove for cleaning?
If a cover, what's the best way to remove it. It's on there.
My other 5 pins have easily removed covers.

yeah its a cover, just find a good spot to start pulling it off its a bit tricky but it will come off.

Tesoro covers are either too lose or too tight.

Awesome thanks AJ. First thing I did with my Bandido is pull all the coil covers off and clean them. Wasnt sure if that was a part of the coil lol. It's tight. Since its the only 4 pin I have, I wanted to ask first lol.
Thinking of cleaning all my coils really well and siliconin them to seal out the dirt that gets in. Maybe not though.
Components for the mod are late by a day and are being delivered today.
Kinda nervous but it will be fun!!

yep cleaning is great idea silicone not so much unless there is a crack etc...\

I would be nervous too takibg to my detector with hot things give me a big fat welding rod and some 1/2" plate no probs fiddly stuff well I need someone else's hands

have fun though its a experiment like all of life so yeah enough the challenge !!

Let warm/hot water run onto the top, cause things to loosen up and expand and use something plastic to try and pry.

Just got off the phone with tesoro.
It is a cover, but different than the rest.
With the added carbon fiber it the coil itself they needed something more rigid. So they incorporated glass into the mix for the cover. Unbelievably strong, but prone to cracking if not done with care.

By far the hardest coil cover for me to remove was the 4" coil cover bought back in the early 90's. I could not get that one off and finally resorted to using my dremel tool with a small cutting blade I'm not really a coil-scrubber so I quit using coil covers but they certainly help to keep your coils looking new especially when hunting in rocky terrain!

Haha maybe the 4" I got was your old one. Looks to be cut on the sidewall in one spot to let it flex to be removed.
Still functions though, so I don't care.

Got it off yesterday!!! Took some time and there was tons of crap in there.
All clean now!!!
Now just have to do the mod. Kinda worried, but that's half the fun!!
