osgood said:While we re on the topic of tuning, do older tip worn, propointers loose their strength?. I have several and having not used protectors they are worn down quite a bit at the tip. Even with fresh batteries they seem less powerful. Could one of these devices or the original method suggested by Ivanll help compensate for this? CO

But it has to be supertuned every time you turn it on to detect a target. With Ivan's method, that requires an adjustment because the metal cannot be left in the supertune location. That is why the metal strip is under a rubberband. If you forget to reset the metal strip, your PP will be detuned and won't have as much depth. That requires you to turn the PP off and reset the metal bar, turn the PP back on and find the supertune location. With the Sidekick it only requires the press of a button, no adjustment is necessary. Once it has been installed there is no more concern for adjustment every time you use it.
I shall try Not to upset anybody by pointing out that the "sidekick" was not available (anywhere) in 2008 when i got my Pro-Pointer, if it had been I would have been one of the first to get one.
Today June 2012 it's still not easily obtainable in our region, again if it was i would get one, if for no other reason but to keep up with the latest and at least get first hand experience with a product before making comments on it's suitability..............perhaps one day.
Seen and saved the video, it looks interesting.
Actually I do leave my Pro-Pointer on for a while when "Super Tuned" this is because I/we use it when Gold prospecting be it with a Metal Detector or when Gold panning and so slight adjustments are often required because the gold is so small and fine.
