A Complete (cap) Gun

TURNMASTER

Active member
I finally dug a whole cap gun. Pretty cool. After cleaning it even works. The total shown is my last couple of outings, probably only about 3 to 4 hours. I am considering restoring the cap gun. The small white spots are an enamel paint with a fairly high pearl gloss.

Yep I say restore it to! Great finds!

The round thing is the cover off of a pocket watch, silver plated. Boy I wished for about 1/3 of a second that it was solid, until I saw the crack and little rust spot and a little magnification proved it.

I am thinking real serious about a full disassembly and restore but I have not quite figured out how to do it and then re-rivet it, as the rivets appear to be integral to the unriveted side. Even so though I think it would look good if restored and then use a couple of small stainless steel flat head machine screws. I have 2 or 12 other projects in the works on which I need to finish at least 2 or 3 of first. So this one gets shelved for a bit.

Most of the time they are broke or just pieces of them. One time I got 9 in one yard.
Congrats on a complete one.
