A difference between older and newer Deus's?

Southwind

Well-known member
Was there a software change or something between the older and newer Deus's? I realize there was version 2 of the software but I'm talking between the same v3.2

I've owned several of the older Deus's now and they all seemed to have better depth and more sensitivity. They also seem to be nosier than the newer ones as well. Kind of like they were a little hotter? I've got an older one I compared to the one I bought brand new and in the same programs it seems to go deeper? Anyway it air tests a few inches deeper. Haven't compared them in the ground yet because I haven't found a coin right at the limits of either yet.

Alot of folks in the UK still prefer version 2.0 to the latest 3.2,must admit have never used the eaelier version so cannot comment but it is still used by many folks who say that it is the better option.

People call me crazy but when v3.2 first came out I air tested a lot of coins...this must have been Dec 2013 timeframe. I have reloaded v3.2 a few times from the XP website and have noticed being able to hit deeper coins, especially in 4 kHz.

I first thought it was the difference between soils, but since moving to Colorado I have recovered a few 9-10" pulltabs and bottlecaps using 4khz. Switching to 12khz these targets come in clearer. Last time I hunted I found a 1/4" jean rivet at 8" in 4khz. It was just a blip of a signal in Full Tones, but was repeatable enough to where it aroused my curiosity.

The soil "ground readings" here are not much different than what I'm used to in W Tennessee, usually run 80-87 so I keep GB at 85 manual setting. My machine is 2013 "vintage" and seems to have improved with reloading v3.2 from the website. I would think that making identical programs between both machines and then do some air and ground testing and see what happens.

Mine is almost always chatty no matter what freq I use except 18 kHz, and I rarely get into that one. Let us know what you find out...here's a thread on the subject: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?83,2206623,2206623#msg-2206623
