A few from last hunt of 2006

Besides the usual clad, this was the best of a schoolyard hunt that was at one time a farm. The Large copper is too crusted to determine if it's a King George of a large cent. The ring is Sterling. I sifted the dirt as best as I could but couldn't find the stone in the hole.

A little trick to maybe see what your copper is. Next time your in town get 220 grit emery cloth. I use 120 but I save the used stuff from my job. If it a copper of no value don't be afraid to scrub that baby with the emery cloth and if there is any detail left at all it will reveal itself. I'll post one tonight after my hunt today.

If you think a coin has any value don't try this. Otherwise have fun.
Take a nasty corroded copper and a piece of used 80 or new 220 grit emery cloth and scrub your little heart out. You can't hurt it so why not try to at least ID it.
This copper was toast but now I know what it is and I carry some in my pocket to have fun with the younger folks. They love to see me at Dunkin Donuts :bouncy:
