The snow is still in the mountains but has melted here in the valleys, allowing me to get out for some land hunts.
I got the no date buffalo at an older elementary school. It gave me a foil signal on the F70.
The '43 mercury dime I found at an old park (1931). I am thinking of naming this park the "bottlecap park." Because the ground is loaded with them. The F70 was chattering really good, but then I heard a signal that made me stop and check it out. Good repeatable signal, very little fluctuation in the VDI numbers, mostly 77 & 78's. It was down about 3 inches. I think I need to go back with the 5" coil and see what I can find.
The ring tested out at 14K, 2 grams. Came from a private yard, down about 2 inches, gave me a nickel signal on the F70. I drove to a park to search and as I was looking for a parking spot, I noticed across the street from the park was a couple of guys stripping windows and doors from an older house. The yard was not in the best of shape and since there was someone out in the yard, I stopped and asked for permission to search. The guy said OK but stay away from where we are working. I had only been searching for about 10 minutes when the guy told me I had to leave as he and his buddy were leaving soon and I could not stay there alone. Just a couple of minutes before he said that, I had found the ring and was actually looking at it when he told me I had to leave. With a smile on my face, I thanked him for letting me search and I left for the park just across the street.
The IHP and the wheat penny I found in the last few days of 2017. Snow was on the ground at that time, so I was in the freshwater lake with my Fisher 1280X. Both pennies were masked by iron targets.
Found so clad to go along with the goodies, including one of the bronze presedential dollars, and lots of trash of course. I almost always search with low discrimination, usually around 5.
