First hint is to always use all metal mode, the Quattro is a great detector in all metal mode,it is an average detector in any other mode,in trashy areas use high trash mode as well, also use a small coil, also sweep the coil about 2 inches above the surface in an iorn laden site, always reduce the sensitivity in trashy and iorn laden sites.
Second is to dig all low number iorn like -1,-2,-2,-4,deep non ferrous will very often give these numbers,I get the feeling that some Quattro owners have not realised that these numbers mean non ferrous and not iorn, not digging these numbers means you are missing lots of deep coins and other god stuff.Sometimes these numbers are a tiny object quite shallow like a shotgun BB or Gold chain.
Third is to always press noise cancel everytime you change the sensitivity, this makes a difference.
Fourth is to always dig faint narrow signals in pinpoint mode,I have dug a -7 signal on the beach that turned out to be an old copper coin at 18+ inches, very faint signals in pinpoint mode will often give no sound, all you will see is a tiny rise in the bargraphs,I love these signals as they have brought me some of my best finds!
Fifth is that old rusty iorn, particularly round iorn will often give a 2 pitched signal, the second tone being higher pitched,it may sound like one tone but if you listen carefully you will here 2 tones,a good sinal always gives a tone with ony one pitch.
Well that's it,try these hints and your find rate will improve a lot, after 1000+ hours on my quattro I think I have finally mastered it,it's all about knowing what the tones and numbers mean.
