A few of my ACE 250 finds

WTG! Glad you are finding good stuff, all I find are pulltabs, bottlecaps, clad and alot of other junk. The elimination on the Ace 250 truly sucks, it beeps at pull tabs and bottlecaps and other junk on the coins mode:veryangry:. Congrats on your nice finds!:garrett::detecting:

some awsome finds Stinkfoot can't wait to find some goodies like these:please: ,,,,,,,, and coinguy56 we are quite new to this , but have found that the older pull tabs here in funny money land( Aust ) give a diferent note to the new ones and the beaver tails sound just like silvers, but when pinpointing it seems to be a bit easy to pick the diference with a shorter sharper area, I find the ace great for the money, when you look at what you have to pay for a machine that practicaly tells you what is there, but where is the fun in that anyway,,

well done again stinkfoot:detecting:

Yes buddy, it can be tiresome, but I accept it as reality. Many caps/tabs may have a metalic coating that the detector is programed to detect. Isn't some of the mystery/fun not quite knowing what something is, all the time? I have a darn good idea by tone, signal strength, signal chopping etc., to have a general idea of what is under the coil. But, when I'm wrong and something unexpected and wonderful is dug up, that is the other side of the imprecision. Also, if I'm tired of bear caps and pennies I can detect old house yards etc., with much less day to day garbage. Or go out to farm fields. There are options that I excercise depending on my mood.

Thanks buddy. There are people here that can walk circles around me with one arm and one eye open, and do better than me. This is only my second season. But.... I have used this machine A LOT in the last two years and a guy gets pretty tight with it. I see people getting an ACE, using it for a few months, then declaring that it's crap and go buy a very expensive machine. That's fine and dandy to have a swanky machine and I'm sure that it brings more advantages, but.... most of those short time uses didn't give the ACE a real chance to prove itself. I'm not saying that the ACE will wake you up and cook breakfast for you in the morning, but the longer I use this machine, the more I like it. I put the largest factory coil on and normaly run one bar below max, sometimes two down.

Public and private. I put the bite on owners of old brick houses whenever I can. I'm rarely denied to detect the garden of an old house.

Thanks all. My impression after only two years detecting, is this. ................... My feeling is that a person with a decent beginners detector, ambition, research and a drive to find objects, will likely be on par or do better than a casual hunter with a top end machine. I really believe that the ACE will allow a guy to find goodies if he puts the effort in and really works it. Going out for a couple hours every 2-3 weeks will reward you with that level of finds. I get back what I put into it effort wise. The ACE, a good site, working the spot slowly and methodically has been rewarding for me. With that said, I'm sure that guys like John-Edmonton triple their ACE finds (compared to mine) simply through their skill and years of use. I still have much to learn.

Hi Coinguy56:
I wouldn't relie to much on elimination/discrimination on ANY detector.
It can only give you it's best guess. So many metals have a similar
conductivity now that your really do have to dig everything. Pull tabs come
in many many different flavors. The detector can only eliminate a few of them.

I also have an MXT and while it does have great discrimination, it too
can only give me its best guess.
