A Fine Afternoon Hunt

New member
Was Warm and Breezy and not too humid today, so off to the local ball fields I went...I have been hunting this field since 2005...Some would say it is hunted out...I say HOGWASH!!!!
The finds are becoming more and more spaced out, and deeper than I used to find em...But that is a good thing right...I am preparing the field for the upcoming field days they hold in August...
I fuigure if I get rid of all the trash and zincs now, the real goodies are gonna be cherries in the bowl...
I managed a ring from 1952 Korean war...Just says Korea on one side with American Eagle, and 1952 on the other side...The Gold is completely gone, and the copper ring is highly corroded...I can make out no initials and no markings on the inside of the band...Not gonna put too much effort into this one...I may turn it over to the local VFW post and let them see if they can make anything out of it...The original owner if found would probably get a kick out of seeing it again, but unless it was polished and replated, it is worthless...Found 2 Wheats...1937 and 1947...The pulltabs I put in here because someone PMed me asking how much trash one can expect to dig to find a ring...There ya Go...lol

HH,

Looks like the nickels are getting pretty scarce even though it's obviously not from lack of effort . . .very interesting ring find also.

Yeah...nickels are practically nonexistant in these fields...Mostly Quarters and dimes, a LOT of zinc, and some old pennies...More Pull Tabs than I care to mention, and the screw caps from beer bottles because the current Mayor (female) thought it would be a great idea to serve bottles and cans of beer at the field days...The Maintenance folks for the fields along with myself got all over her for that one, and it was a one year deal on that...I am still picking this crap out of the field along with the associated can slaw pieces...Case Cllosed...lol

HH,
