Just realized there's a section of a park I can hunt that has some history to it; late 1800's (privately owned; sold to the county in the '30's). Oddly enough, it's seems like no one has hunted this place. I hit a deep silver sounding tone between a lot of trash (with the Platypus) and I couldn't believe it when I pulled out my first Merc! ('39) Not too long after that, I pulled out number two! '37 :) Silver is pretty hard to come by around here so you can bet I'm going to be pounding this area any chance I get...

Total take for the day around $7 and change, a Canadian quarter (that sure looked like silver at first glance) and a badly decomposed button :)

Congrat's Joe G. It is always nice to see that silver come out of the ground. Just hope that there is some Barbers of Indians waiting there for your next search. And keep digging all the new stuff too, it sure adds up quick. Good luck and HH.:clapping:

Joe, You have broken the ice and it is still only March of 2006. You have 9 more months of detecting time to find that Barber, Indian Head or Seated Liberty.

I can remember back to those days when I had my 1st and it was quite exciting to come home and share them with the family.

Keep it up my friend and your goals will get accomplished and then new one set for bigger and brighter finds to come.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks... I'll keep lookin' ! I usually dig dirt in the spring and fall and then hit the beaches during the summer and winter. I'm really looking forward to the hot weather and some gold and silver ;)
