A five silver day+two the day before

It has been a while since I had a five silver day, but yesterday was a fantastic day to get out and get some hunting in. The five bottom silvers is from yesterday and the top two is from the day before. The Barber is 1892 and I missed the Seated by one year :veryangry:, but still a nice find. I haven't been out much because the ground has been so dry around Central Illinois. The local news said this August is the fourth driest in recorded history for us. We did get some rain last week which helped turn the brown grass green but the dirt is still powder below the roots. The SLQ was just two inches down and a very trashy signal, a little voice said dig it, so I did. In the same hole was a wheatie and a no date Buffalo nic which explains the mixed signals.

Nancy and I are really looking forward to getting out this weekend for a three day vacation/hunt. Last weekend we were traveling through some small towns looking for places to hunt and we came across a 1904 High School that is in private hands now. We asked some questions and found out that one of the owners lived right next door. I asked for permission and got the OK to hunt. He thanked us several times for asking and he said he has chased other hunters off of the property because they never asked. This is the place where the Barber dime came from and we only had an hour to hunt Sunday before dark, but he said we were welcome to come back anytime. I posted the picture and what is not shown is the block long playground behind the building.

You have some great finds there Larry, and by the looks of the school in the picture, there should be many more coming...Great Job!!

It's funny because I have been eying an old elementary school in RI and it looks exactly like your pic.

I can't believe some retarded MD started swinging on his property without asking. Their in the same category as those who don't cover up their holes/remove trash. It ruins it for everyone!

Thanks Erik.

Thanks Lonnie. Don't be afraid to ask to hunt, we get some no's from time to time, but mostly "go right ahead".

Thanks JW. That is just what I have been finding with the SE Pro. You should go to the MXT Forum where Nancy is Moderator and see the pile of goodies she has found with that Kellyco MXT of her's. :please:

Thanks MJ, we will be hitting it again this weekend, lots of ground to cover. We just found out today that the elementary school used to be across the street from the high school and I suspect it was older yet since it has been torn down and made into a park.

Wow...what an awesome site. Have fun there buddy. That place looks great...and I can't even see the back yard:clapping:

Glad you got some nice Silver out of the ground when you finally got back out and did some detecting. That School looks like it may hold a few more Keepers. Hope to see more Silver and other Goodies after the Labor Day Weekend. Good Luck and HH to the both of you on your 3 day hunt.

Thanks James, we are looking forward to it and the weather is supposed to be great too. :beers:

I'll post some better pictures this time out. We didn't have our camera with us when we found this place. I used a "stock" photo.
