The E-Trak forum that is. Yesterday I was telling one of my coworkers that I was taking off early to go out and spend the afternoon metal detecting since it was such a beautiful day (sunny, 68 deg, and best of all -- no wind). This coworker has been suffering from some fairly serious health problems and has lost a lot of weight. So he tells me that he lost his wedding ring a few days before, he realized that it had slipped off his finger and pretty much knew exactly where this happened. He had spent hours looking for it but couldn't find it. So I told him I'd stop by his house later in the afternoon and see if I could use the E-Trak to find it. So I left work at noon, went home and picked up my equipment and drove to a couple of locations where I'd previously found wheat pennies and silver dimes. After about 3.5 hours all I'd found was 5 memorial cents. At this point, being quite disappointed at how my day was going, I was questioning whether this would be a good day to try to find my friends ring or not. You have to understand that I've never found a gold ring in all the years I've detected. But in the end I decided to go look for it -- at least if I found it the day wouldn't be total loss. I get to his house and he's at the front door waiting for me. We go out to his back yard to where he lost the ring and he shows me the exact spot where he was standing when he lost it. I looked around for a few seconds surveying the situation, look down, and what do I see -- his ring laying right on top of the grass, not two feet from where I'm standing. I hadn't been there two minutes and didn't even have a chance to turn on the detector. Boy was he excited and surprised. That made my day too. Well, I found my first gold ring, but I still haven't found one with a metal detector! My coworker invited me to come back (as it was almost dark) with my detector any time and look around his yard.
