A Good Day For The Whole Family

As hotrod53 already posted, he pulled up the 1889 Morgan today. A little while latter I found a pretty ratty 192? merc about 30' from the Morgan.

Just when we thought maybe that was it for the day Mom finds two coins in one hole just a short distance from where the Morgan turned up. I walked up to see what she found. hotrod53 said "one of these looks like a token, it has a 2 on it and the other one looks like a penny." Jokingly he said "maybe it's a two cent piece, if it is, I've never seen one before". I took it over to his truck and washed it off and got the magnifier out while he cleaned off the other coin for her. It turned out to be an 1882 Indian! I could hardly hold back my excitement realizing as I cleaned off the coin that she did in fact find a 2 cent piece and none of us had ever found one before let alone seen one. I went over and said "you're about to see your first two cent piece and it's 100 year older than me, 1865! We were so excited for one of use to finally find one of these and it was the second coin of the day that was a first in the family.

Up till this point I only had the merc besides a little bit of clad and I said to hotrod53, "I'm still trying to get into the 1800's with you guys today". As luck would have it a short time later I dug a 36 signal and it was an 1887 indian! Today was the first time that all three of us found coins from the 1800's all on the same day!!!

We stopped for some take out and I could resist when I got back to the truck saying to our Mom, "Anyone have any money I was two cents short".

These pictures are before we cleaned anything.

:clapping: Outstanding!!

You folks had a banner day! Congrats on all of the firsts!

Yea a banner day is right.

Congrat's on your first 2 center and it looks like it's in good shape.

It's always a good day when your finding coins in the 1800's, congrat's

Our Mom has been way past due to find something good. That two cent piece was just the thing. The last few weeks have been good to us. I think we are starting to be convinced that you just never know where a good find can turn up.

The place that we went to today we had been to before. I wouldn't say that we hunted it hard the last time we were there but we went over it pretty well with none of the finds being anything like what we found today!

Silver is nice. But I've always thought the US 2-cent coin was one of the prettiest designs we've had. Brush a little olive oil on that one and those details will jump out at you. Tell your mom "Congrats" for that one. HH Randy

Wow amazing day. I have always wanted to find a two cent. That is a nice morgan also. Morgans are my favorite dollar coin.

Wonderful finds. Congratulations!
