A Good Hunt Ruined...

New member
Got to the beach at the park about 10-30 am and met
up with Frank.

It started off well. I had a nice silver pendant , an
earing and a few coins, Frank had a ring., bracelet and
some kind of keyholder looking thingy. THEN

the minions of the law informed us we couldnt detect.
Even tho Im and Ex Ranger and have been know to
tell off officers from Lts to Lt Cols, i make it a point
not to argue with the police. I told the officer i had
detetcted in the park many times, and he said the park
was fine but not the beach???? DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:hot::huh:
Anyway, we left not pleased since the hunt showed a lot
of potential. Im gonna call the county superintendents and get
somethign in writing since I had verbal permission in the 1st
place.

Oh well i was TECTING :detecting: and it was the last nice day this week
will see.. so all was not lost :)

So thats the story of the beach hunt ... for NOW anyway

Happy Safe And Fun Hunts to All

Ron

Ranger,, When you care enough to send theVERY best !!!

It happens to us all at one time or another. It is never pleasant and it usually does not come out in the hobbyist's favor. I assume you were filling in your holes and picking up trash. I would have asked the officer for the specific ordinance you were violating. I hope you got his name and badge number.

My worst encounter actually did end up in my favor. A county deputy sheriff almost arrested me for malicious vandalism. It was a week of phone calls and emails and I was eventually invited back to the park by the town supervisor and police chief.

Law enforcement officers are human. As such, most are great, some are bullies or worse and should not be in that line of work.

Pursue it. If it doesn't come out in your favor move on. If you're a rebel (I am) when you go back to that site early in the mornings on the week-end. probably not when the beach is in use.

Odd that the beach was off limits and the park was OK.

On a personal note. I got into a shouting match with a LT and ended up losing a stripe. I was much younger and dumber back then.

At least ya got out. I had worked out a out of town hunt for turkey day morning, then to be back to do the deep frying turkey. Had all gear set, batteries and all, and everything packed in a SUV in the garage, gas and all, ready to go. Well, I'm recovering from the flu as well as the fella that was going to go with me. I didn't go in but was told symptoms were swine - according to doc. So no deep fried turkey & ham, and especially no hunt at all:wacko: Now my son is getting over it and my wife just started. I was ready for a real meal today too. Now that the weather is superb, I'm drained, hungry, have a sick wife, but can't go although I really really want to:veryangry:
I got zilch, beat, and nothing to show, so :drinking:

Yeah man, that's really the pits.:(That is crazy that it's alright at park but not the beach?:wacko:That doesn't make sense. Sorry to hear about that. Better luck with future hunts.:detecting:

I was helped by the fact that the brass at Brigade and Divsion Hdqtrs
thought LRRP s could do no wrong in Viet Nam. Most did anyway
I was responsible for 5 other guys and we did our job really well
BUT i didnt deal well with folks who never got out from behind a
desk telling me what to do in a fire fight....Call me silly!!!

Anyway ill work out the problems with the county and hopefully
get the chance to go back before it gets too cold. Like i said
teh rest of this week is gonna be rainy and chilly so i can make
a few calls in the mean time

Ron

hope it all works out for the best , it sound slike a great spot,,HH

From the land of the Bluenose.....one would think it was the other way around...hunt the beach not the park. Takes all kinds when the flavour is Heinz! Good luck on the written pemission me son!

:usaflag:This seems more like the officer is saving the beach either for himself or a friend. Find the ordinance in writing before hittin' the beach again... Something smells fishy with being able to hunt the park and not the beach. :starwars:
