A greeting and a question

Hello all.

After a 30+ year hiatus, I recently got back into the hobby of metal detecting and have been having a blast!
After much research my weapon of choice was the Minelab 705 as I would be using on both inland areas and along the Texas beaches.
It's been three months since I started swinging again and this is what I have found so far (the buffalo nickels were from a seeded club hunt)

I have been mainly sticking to the parks as I haven't had the nerve yet to knock on doors, but that will quickly soon come.

Now for the question:

One of my most interesting finds so far has been a button I found with the word "regiment" on it.

What little information I have been able to find about it suggests that it is from a British military uniform circa WWII.
Have any of you folks ever come across anyhting like this?

Welcome back to the hobby....and welcome to the X-TERRA forum. Looks like you've done well with your 705, so far. Going by the crown at the top, I'd agree that the button appears to be either British.....or possibly Canadian. Don't limit your research to circa WW II. I've seen similar buttons dating back to the War of 1812. Hopefully someone here can help make an accurate ID. HH Randy

I found a picture of it, but can't find any specific information.
The pic title says WWII.
