A guy once told me -

steve in so la

Well-known member
he just didn't have enough money left over from paying his bills every week to give any to the church.

I think some people are kinda like that with praying - not enough time left for prayers. steve in so az

Placing God & Prayer 1st, in my life, has brought peace of mind and all the time I've wanted and or needed for other things. Clearly God commanded us to 'return' a 10th of our 'increase' and it would seem then that that would include our time as well. What we do for God today will determine what He will do for us tomorrow. Amen?

begin the day with prayer, pray while you drive, pray when you see a situation where someone needs prayer, pray before you eat, pray before sleep, pray with your kids, spouse, friends. There is no bad time to pray, and we should pray all the time! :)

Serving God is praying and taking time to give Him glory and praise in all things! I am quilty too, of not praying or giving like I should and it is my fault and not any other thing or person!.!! God Bless! Betty

Yeah, I think a great many believe prayer is on an as needed basis - when they perceive they need help, it is a good time to pray. For me though, there is lots of time for prayer anytime I am doing something time consuming: driving, waiting for most anytime, and when I see an accident or discover a need.

You do not have to close your eyes, you do not need to bow your head, you do not need to fold your hands. You can pray silently most anywhere, anytime.

Of course, I do make a point of vocal prayer, especially at meals out with the kids and their friends. Get a lot of interesting reactions.

Welcome woodwizard to the CMD Forum and hope you post often!

The Bible says: Pray without ceasing! How do we do that many would ask? Well, hold Jesus in your heart all day and night long and give Him honor and praise for all He has done and all that He will do for each one of us! I pray silently when I'm shopping and seeing a person in need of prayer or needing saved when doing wrong to their children or cursing and taking God's name in vain! Others I have seen hurt themselves in the parks or playgrounds, especially children and I usually ask are you okay and may I pray for you? The older ones will if they know Jesus, but children get embarrassed and usually say NO, but I pray silently for them anyway!

You know we may never know on this earth who we help or strengthen through prayer and in other ways, but we will know when Jesus catches us up into the air to be with Him forever more, for He will say, Well Done....My good and faithful servant! Oh, can you even imagine the glory and love we'll have lots more of when we are dwelling in His gloious light eternally! Hard to wait to go be living in a bright mansion when leaving these mortal bodies and caught up to Jesus forever more! May each child of God be ready to meet Him by serving and following Him, faithfully! Amen! God Bless! Betty

Yes woodwizard, GOD is always listening, and how long does it take to say (or think) Thank You LORD.

I find the prayers come to my heart much more readily when I am in the bible on a more regular basis, go figure. When I hit a stretch and "don't have time to read my bible" I find that I have to force myself to stop to pray then it usually starts to flow. When I am spending time in the word though, the prayers just seem to be more spontaneous and frequent. I can not say they are more or less effective though, I guess that would be GOD's grace in action.

Makes me sad that those without faith can't see what what we often can.

Ma Betty in Mo Yes I can't wait, to much pain here, but it shapes us, helps to make us who we are. Each of us are uniquely suited to minister to a given group of people the way I see it.

SeniorSeeker (is that a religious moniker or a MD moniker) were you asking a question? Even a job well done is testimony of our faith and that takes time.

Lastly I think most of us could give more in some part of our lives, and remember, through our faith in Jesus Christ (that no man may boast) all of our sins will be forgiven, I am sure glad I will not get what I deserve,

Thank You GOD,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff, for the nice post and, Yes, even the elderly who can't get out very much can serve God from right where they are bedridden, wheel chairs, or whatever illness they might have or just not able to drive! We can always pray, read the Bible and talk to God anytime of the day or night! Jesus is the best Friend we'll ever have, so why not talk to Him just like one of our human friends and tell Him all about our troubles and Thank Him for His love, mercy and grace for us and others! Also, the Bible Scriptures can be listened to on CDs and DVD's, if a person cannot read too easily because of many reasons and poor eye sight! Thank you again and all my brothers and sisters in Christ for their posts that I sure do enjoy reading, although most are of few words! God Bless! Betty
