A little cabin fever and a battery check.

As usual, I come sniffin around here bout this time of year as to get my digging fix. Some great finds already I see.. Just wanted to share recent battery experience. I have been using the original rechargeable for years and noticed last year it just doesn't hold a charge as long. I recall doing an air test last year and only getting 8" max on anything with stock and 12x15.. I probed the battery with meter and got nearly proper volts. Didnt bother much cause wasnt gettin out much . I just put some new rechargeables in on account I might actually get out this weekend. I just did air test and got over 12" on quarter (same settings).. Just an observation and some personal motivation. HH 2016

DiggingFx, I have an Ex2 and with a 15dd all I get also with a fully charged battery is about 8" depth also on a quarter..what's up with this and why did you jump from 8 to 12? It couldn't have been the batteries could it? I am running everything at max... including sensitivity and 11 frequency. All this is done at the kitchen table off the ground and it sounds stable but is it really stable in the house? Can doing this in the house show a loss in depth even if it is seemingly stable? I turn gain down and lose depth... turn sense down and hardly notice a depth loss till I get to 20 or lower. I've had this machine for a decade and it still bewilders me! lol

She's a fickle machine sometimes.. In my case it musta been the battery pack. It wont even take a charge now.. I suspect the volts must have dropped quickly upon testing last fall. Recent test was done indoors no problem. Could have been me overlooking something, I get lackadaisical and just swing away, might not even have the machine turned on. I may have not had deep on for last years test.?? I have perfect ground now, new batteries, plenty of motivation and a few new spots... And a cold, go figure.

After 14 years on the Explorers I figured I'd know them by now!!! lol Goin out tomorrow. Always excited to go no matter what! lol HH bro!
