A little fishing and detecting.

Well-known member
I hit the road early on 5/26 heading up to the Park Rapids area of Mn for a week of walleye fishing and, of course, I always manage to get some detecting time in as well. My great wife put her "blessing" on my making this late May-early June trip alone since 2006 when I retired and I have done so every year since. (I think if the truth were known, the water is to cold and weather to unpredictable for her this time of the year up there) l arrived at the resort the afternoon of 5/27 and hit the water as soon as I was unpacked. Although on this early trip I fish more then I detect, I do, though, manage to get a couple hours or so of swinging in each day. Usually most of my detecting is done on the area's late 1800's old fairgrounds. This year, however, I found it un-mowed and the prairie grass 5-7" high. Even for the LTD I felt that might be pushing it a bit and sought out one of the towns older parks. As fate would have it, I only ended up using my LTD for one hunt. I had my Omega along as well and decided to use it when hunting on the resort where I was staying. It had been being neglected quite a bit this spring. And, it performed and produced like a champ sniffing out 7 silver coins and a sterling ring for me...which I will be posting on the Tek forum. The F 75 LTD, however, didn't let me down. From one of the local parks, I managed 3 silver coins, a 43 quarter and 2 Mercury dimes, 29 and 37d, 2 IH cents, a 1893 and a 1900, a no date buffalo nickel, 5 wheats ranging from 1919-1944 and about $1.50 in clad and cents. And Yes, I also caught some fish. I ate fish while there, iced a couple of filet's down and brought home to my wife and a couple dozen or so that were in the "slot "were returned to breed and be caught again. From 5/27-6/2 temps were mostly low to mid 60's. 95 here today...need I say more? HH jim tn

Welcome home buddy !!

Sounds like a really great time, and that is alot of silver!
Congrats!

Wow - Awesome job. It doesnt get any better does it. Dirt fishing and regular fishing.... Thanks for the post. What coil were you using on the F75TLD ??? CCH

both kinds of fishing is tough to beat and the older coins were an added plus. CCH, I was using the 11" dd coil. I had hunted this particular park before with cz's, F 75 and T 2 and had recovered some silver and quite a few wheats and 3-4 IH cents. When I checked in on it this time, I quickly noted that a small wooded hillside on one side of the park had been cleaned up of most underbrush and this was the area that yielded the silvers and older coins. There is a stretch left to clear if they are so inclined to do so. (hope, hope) Thanks, HH jim tn
