A Little More Silver And A Lot More Wheat...

Took the CZ-70 to what used to be the school grounds of an early 1900's school today. Very nice digging with nice soft dirt under thick grass...easy to dig those 8 to 12" plugs with my Lesche Groundshark. And there were a lot of deep ones out there. There was also a pretty heavy amount of iron scattered around and I found it useful to have the iron notched in so I could hear it. It helps me separate the good targets from the bad.
There are wheaties ranging from 1919 (two of those) to 1955. All were at least 6 inches, most were 8+ inches. The 1926 Merc may be the deepest dime I've ever dug. It was indicating the max depth reading of 10" but it was every bit of 12" or maybe even a tad more. I had a faint but repeatable signal that read consistent Hi-coin. I was able to BARELY get a pinpoint on it...almost not there. I dug a huge plug out and it was still there in the ground. I eventually extracted it from where it was deeply entrenched in the bottom of the hole. My hunt buddy Scottishblood witnessed it...this sucker was DEEP. I really thought it was going to turn out to be something other than a coin due to the depth. As I said, this was some really nice moist dirt and I feel the CZ was achieving near max depth out there. This machine never ceases to amaze and please me. HH!
