late afternoon hunt at the beach yielded this.925 toe ring ..again in the first 2-3 minutes of the hunt.

On initial recovery, this ring had ( notice past tense) a pretty light gold hue to the outer band and I suspected that in addition to .925 stamping, , this ring was also gold plated

tested it with gold tester and sure enough, 10K gold plate...then I made the mistake of retesting the ring just to confirm my findings...that did it for the outer band gold plate. The acid totally eradicated the very thin gold plate from the outer band surface :cry:


Guess I won't do that again!...Live and learn

In the pics, you can still see the gold hue on the inside of the band
