I received permission to detect a 5 acre property dating back to 1900. However, the owner said that a previous owner had bulldozed the property to "even" out the contours of the land. My hope was that he had enough sense to remove the top soil, do his bulldozing, and then replace the top soil. In any event, in the 60's an entertainment venue was built next door and the property was used as a parking lot by concert goers. I've been going over to the property for a couple of weeks now and finding tons of bottle caps and some clad but no silver, until today. And I was very lucky to find that. After a couple of days of digging bottle caps, I'm being more picky about what signals I'm digging.
The AT Pro was giving me a clear 81 with no scratches around the edges so I was guessing a dime and was right. I dug a clad dime about 4 inches down. Before I filled the hole, I stuck the ProPointer in and got a signal for something else. I dug down about 4 more inches and out came this little beauty. You can't see it in the picture but I put a scratch right across the skirt of the Lady Liberty with my digging tool. After I dug it, I put it on the ground and she rang up at 75.
Kind of makes your day when you dig something this old doesn't it?
