A little T2 Trouble

all iron

Member
Took my T2 apart tonight to get it ready for this weekend.
After i got it back together i got and overload signal every time i turned it on. this happened with and without the coil plugged in.
Might have got the connection wet, just a bit, i think ill let it dry overnight and hope its all right in the morning.

anyone else experience an overload signal with and without coil plugged in?

Thanks

Haven't had my T2 that long. I would tear it back down, take the batteries out and reassemble, making sure all connections are properly secured.
Good Luck,
Bunker

well shoot, its the next morning and it still overloads about 10 seconds after being turned on without coil plugged in / and right away if coil is connected.
I think its headed back to Texas

Never had to do that before, any advice to make it as painless as possible?
Maybe Dave could just come to my house?

mine did that once after i cleaned it i think it was in all metal mode in the house try doing a reset good luck hh

you may have pinched a wire putting it back together or like you said.got some moisture where you shouldnt have..........check that battery compartment also..........best of luck to you. keep at it.

Arrives at Teknetics today. sent it overnight and it will be in good hands by 10:30
I'll keep you all posted of the resolution.

Nine days later, T2 SE is back home (SWEET)
Teknetics replaced the coil connector and re calibrated unit.
The also replaced a missing volume nob, little rubber do dad over the pin point switch and gave me an extra set of coil to rod connectors (Thank You) Teknetics

The reason i sent it in was because the unit would overload as soon as i turned it on but it took about 10 seconds to overload when the coil was not plugged in after turning it on.

Unit seems to be working fine but still overloads after 10 seconds with coil unplugged.
can someone else verify if their unit also does this (dose not seem to matter weather i am inside or out or what the sensitivity is set too.

Maybe this is just a normal characteristic of this unit?

I guess i should not hunt when the coil is not plugged in :clapping:

I've never seen a detector behave normally with no coil plugged in. It shouldn't hurt it, but it will usually sound off continuously.

Never owned a Teknetics... just shopping right now.

My question is, what is the need to take a T2 apart to get it ready to hunt?

I've been at it over 35 years and have never heard of a detector requiring this.

Thanks,
Geo

You are absolutely correct, you do not have to take them apart to hunt but you do have to put them back together before you can hunt.
Sometimes i take the unit apart and clean it. I think it works better when its clean :)

I break mine down in two pieces for storage and transport. I only take the coil off to change coils.
