A Lot of Potential

Decided to try a different city park today.
This is an older park with lots of old Oak and Pine. Nice shade trees for picnics and watching the ball field.

Started around one of the Oaks and got a 1975 penny. Figured it was a good sign. Lot of trash, mostly old beer bottle caps.
One in particular an old Hamms (From the Land of Sky Blue Waters), brought back memories of my cousin and me sneaking a bottle or two from my uncle, but I regress. :beers:

I kept finding clad, mostly from the early 70's, which kind of told me this was pretty much untouched mother earth.

Then in the middle of a little hard packed dirt driveway, the "Yeller Feller" gave a nice coin tone in the penny dime range. 2" count em Two Inches down in this hard dirt was a 1944S Wheatie. Only my second. Man this park has potential. I can almost hear the silver yelling "Over Here Find Me." I will definitely be going back.

WTG navmode. Yeah I think I would hit that park 1 or 2 more times.

Try doing some research on that park. maybe you can find out where things were situated back in the day as opposed to where they are now. e.g. old picnic areas, pavilions and such.

Good luck

Alright!:thumbup:WTG!:cheers:Congrats on the wheat penny! Yeah, I'd be hittin' that park hard. Like you say, it's got potential. I'm curious, while using that EXcellerator coil, does the Ace provide you with an accurate depth reading? I have the 5" EXcellerator coil that I use on my GTI 2500(which I love). Great little coil, but it does not provide depth information. Just curious if that 10"x14" does. Thanks in advance. Good luck hunting that park! Keep us posted! Happy Hunting!:)

MetalHead,

The 10x14 does seem to be a little off, but some of it may be operator error, as I am still learning both machine and coil.

The Wheatie was at 2 inches but read 4 inches steady. I just check the hole and then the plug.

Hey, thanks for the response,NavMode. That's interesting. Good luck with that 10"x14" on the Ace. I'd get one for my wife to use on hers, but she'd say it was too heavy.:biggrin:Thanks again for the info. I was just curious. Happy Hunting!:)
