A New Sheriff In Town?

Lakota

New member
So the deer hunting was sad at best this weekend so I spent Sunday afternoon at what I was told was the old mountain general store for the homesteads I hunt. Long story short, the excitement came 10 minutes into my 4 hour hunt there.

5" down with two hammered nails in the hole, My first Sheriff or maybe a Proabition officers copper badge ( the latter because this mountain was known for its shine production ;) welcome to Arkansas ) . Found other interesting iron and a mason jar lid was the only other nonferrous target.

I plan to frame it against some black velvet background for my wife to display on her desk ( she's' law enforcement)

Things like this are why I love this hobby.

Stay safe and good luck out there,

Lakota

Yeah thats cool! I wonder how the LEO lost it? In a scuffle or chase through the brush after a moonshiner?

Yeah my wife's family and I speculated on that too. Figuring it was at the general store I wonder if it was a scuffle or something along those lines. I know it was pretty easy target to recover once I got the skeleton off of it :lmao:

Though in all seriousness I worry about finding human remains where I hunt up there. Seen a local cemetery from the late 1800s up there and the head stones are not really head stones as we know them today , put 100+ years of forest litter on them and you may find more than you wanted. Least I think about that out there and am more careful for those upright stones while swinging.
