I got out today for a short hunt. I went to a small lot a couple of blocks from my house. The last time I hunted there they were putting in a bigger pipe underground. I got there today and was hunting for awhile. When I got over in the corner of the lot I noticed a dirt pile. In reading all of the post about how people have found coins in such piles. I figured I go see if I could find anything. First swing I get a good hit. I moved some dirt with my hand and could see the edge of a silver coin. It ended up being a Type II 1917 Standing Liberty quarter in very nice shape. I moved the dirt around some and could only come up with an additional modern nickel. I really thought I would find more. But, I am happy with the shape of the SLQ. Check those dirt piles... The SLQ hasn't even been washed in the picture. It's as it looked coming out of hole.
