A Nice Night Tundra Hunt Under A Full Moon

Waited till all the folks went home tonite before I hit the hill. It was busy, as the temp got up to a couple of degrees above zero. I started hunting at about 5:30 PM, at about sunset. The sunset itself was kind of boring, however, the full moon in front of me was was quite a site, and it kind of kept the snow illuminated to help with digging coins in the dark. I couldn't resist a couple of shots with my camera...... because the snow was deep in places, I opted to use my large 9" x 12" coil. The snow makes a good conductor, as I dug a quarter at a measured 9" with a good strong signal.

I managed to find a nice little hula-girl pendant, completely out of place. :)

I'm surprised you don't get frost bite John! Must be 'interesting' diggin' in the snow.

I love the 9 x 12 coil on my Ace. Fantastic on the beach. Today I dug a 20 cent piece which was at least 12" deep. I was left with a hole the size of a bomb crater!!

Looks ike you had a good outing.. Congrats !

What do you do about coins that are in the ground? Do you recover them or do save them for the thaw? I dug two coins yeterday and it took me ages.

Chris

I usually just save them for the thaw. I end up splitting them in half or bending them if I try to get them out of the ground. And go figure, they are usually pennies.

I'm just gonna wait until March. I hate Winter. At least it hasn't snowed in a week or so.

Life just provides such sweet times to detect. It looks like you just had one of those moments.
Thanks for a photo of the moment John.
Mick Evans.

Looks like quite a pile of quarters on top of that loonie buddy, good haul for the winter. I saw that big ol' moon yesterday morning as I was leaving. I sure wouldn't do a summer city park under a full moon. Too many vampires and werewolves out.
