We are in the process of "cleaning up" a virgin 1861 infantry campsite. We had the fortune to find this before anyone else. This has been one of our better finds for 2004. For you guys on the east coast who seldom see a .69, that's all we found. Lots of drops which probably would have been fired from the altered 1842 Rifle Musket based upon what we have found in the area. Eat you heart out east coasters.
We are now at the point of digging all the iron. God, I love to dig fence wire. Here is one of the nicer things from this last weekend. It's a horse tether that can he hammered into a tree or post. Thanks to the conservators at the "Steamship Arabia" Museum in KC who put us on to using Tannic Acid to preserve iron relics.
