A Piece of Garrett History

I will not post the link but someone in my area is selling a Garrett Sidewinder. This was part of the first line of Garrett detectors, made in 1964 if I am not mistaken.

The seller claims that it is in working order. I think I can grab it for $100.

It would be a pretty cool conversation piece. I am not sure I want to sink $100 into a detector that I will not get any use out of though.

Sounds like lots of cash for old technology

I would assume it's a BFO. Is it? They ain't much fun after using today's trchnology and the price is a little steep unless you want it as a collectors item. I bought an old Compass TR from the early seventies in excellent condition for $25 bucks and it finds goodies.

Bill.

Yeah, it's an old BFO model.:garrett::detecting:I have one of those earliest models"The Provider":wiggle:Slingshot has one of those oldest ones, too."The Hunter", I think.
Mine is fun to play around with from time to time. Works good for being so old. Wifey found it at a garage sale years ago. No clue what she paid, but I'm sure it was ALOT less than $100:biggrin: It does make for a nice conversation piece.:wiggle:
Oh yeah, man, the sounds that thing makes really freaks out the cats. :rofl:Happy Hunting!:)
