Time for some input:Las Vegas,Nevada.....also known as SIN CITY,ETC...Everybody knows what goes on there, right? How many think that even going to that city is sinning??I was there once, just after I was saved, for a wedding. To see that city at night really something, all the lights.....The casinos were not such an importance to me,and yes I DID put some money in the slot machines.....I just wanted to go,because Ive never been there,before........As saying goes,"Its a nice place to visit, but I wouldnt want to live there".....I have had thoughts getting one of them packages to stay in Las Vegas, only because of the meals(they are AWESOME,in them casinos), and to get the rental car;so I could drive to California;Ive always wanted to..............They can keep the casinos, and all the "legal"establishments(if ya know what I mean),thats NOT what I go for,.......What about the restaurants? Marcia and I went to the restaurant in Bay Mills in the U.P.,for her birthday last year, and we will go again, this July, just for meals.....In my opinion;this is a matter of personal opinion; If we have a problem with any part of it,we should stay from ALL of it,and its not like I go to them every week...Once or twice a year, and only for the grub..........What say YE??? Steve.....

Personally, I have never been to Las Vegas, although I rec invitations like yours in the mail! No matter of whatever food they serve and offer free, I wouldn't go and participate, as this is contributing to all the sin which goes on there! Harming those who can't control their gambling and not even mentioning the other awful stuff it causes the weak flesh to participate of! Of all the traveling my ex and I did, we didn't visit Sin City and I wasn't as strong and as faithful Christian that I am now! Any money spent would go to feed the devil's side and not God's, and the temptation it might cause too many people needs to be taken into fact of whether a person would be tempted, when they once were drinkers and did anything that caused them to sin before when in places like Las Vegas! As Paul told Timothy, flee from sin and that way we won't be tempted by even having a small taste of sins' temptations! Just my thought on the question you asked! Sin is sin...even any portion of it! May God bless and keep you and Marcia from temptation and going where the food is free with temptation to drink and gamble, which is very addictive to too many people, who can't control their spending by gambling and etc.! Amen! Ma

I have been there several times. my sister lives close to there. I do not like it. Yeah there is alot of neat things but doesn't most sin look good. I would rather go to the rocky mountains where you can seee the beuty that GOD created.

My personal opinion of Vegas is generally negative. I have been a few times due to family living nearby....there are several reasons it is not my cup of tea; some of them personal preference, some of them related to my beliefs. Personally, the city is dirty, loud and excessive in every way. For me, if you've seen one casino, you've seen them all. I do not gamble and do not drink nor do I enjoy performances laced with sexuality and bad language. I hear so many people say they only go for the food. I guess this many be true for many, but why in the world would anyone travel thousands of miles for a cheap buffet....never have I had a meal in Vegas that impressed me other than impressive selection. The food quality is always lacking. Saying one only goes to Vegas for the food and discounts is akin to a grown adult saying they only go to Hooter's for the wings. Doesn't add up to me ;) I do, however, really enjoy touring Hoover Dam and Death Valley.

I remember going to Vegas when we first married and I was not even old enough to gamble...curiosity to do so was extreme. My maturity has grown, but I can see how it would be a major draw for ppl.

Hey Steve, if you want my opinion, well, I believe it's between you and the Lord. If the Lord needs you there for some reason, then I would go. If not, well, I would pray on it personally. I'm with Liz and Travis, not my cup of tea at all. I lived right outside of Tampa for 2 years and that place is the sister to Vegas from what I'm told. Needless to say, we're in NC now. :) I avoid putting myself into ALL situations where I can't be in a spiritual environment, heck, I've got enough problems just surviving at work everyday! :)

God Bless Steve and if you want advice on an incredible vacation... THE GRAND TETONS. I went with Al for our 1 year anniversary and it was amazing! Food for thought my friend.

Let not your Heart be troubled...Walk by Faith! We will always have to deal with the Sin Nature that lies within all of us....
The difference between us and those that haven't asked the lord in there heart is "Jesus"..and our Faith in Him and
that His shed blood covers our sins is what will keep us until his return or Our Death!..
Jesus said, When I return will I find Faith!!!! and it is impossible to Please God without faith....and God has given every man
a Measure of it.... So be careful and Just Love people....thats what will attract them to the Cross Of Christ....Where we all need to be..

I agree with duggr, we can be just as tempted and tried at the local convenice store as we would in vegas. Besides where is the the need the strongest for a good christian witness, hid out at your home church, or in downtown sin city!
I'm not talking about standing on the corner of the strip and screaming, " all you sinners are bound for hell" either. But what about that waitress that served your table, that is a single mother with 3 kids at home, works two jobs and has an ex husband/boyfriend that is still ripping her off every chance he gets and she just found out he might have given her aids! Do you suppose that among all the drunks, gambelers, and loudmouths she has to put up with , that someone with true Holyspirt led compasion, love, and understanding might make a bright spot in her day by being a light in a dark world and just give a her a moments rest at thier table, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen?
Who knows what God could do with a situation like that!
I belong to a cowboy ministers association , know as Cowboy Church International, and for several years we had our yearly International ministers conference in Las Vegas at the Gold Coast Hotel and casino right at the end of the strip and during a week of a few hundred Godly men and women living and meeting in that hotel many drunks, gamblers, etc were touched, thaught and good fruit planted in the very heart of satans camp.
One week I rode in an elevator with 6 party hardy boys from the casino floor to the top floor. They asked me why are we seeing so many cowboy hats? is there a rodeo in town? Don't put 6 drunks and a cowboy preacher in an elevator for 18 floors without some godly light being shown! Two of those drunks came to the meeting the next night!
The next time you wonder if you should go some place you might be tempted, remember, Jesus was tempted in all ways just as we are! If He were to come in bodily form to visit earth for the weekend, where would He go? To the local church? maybe make a guest apperance on trinity broadcast network? No! He would be in the bars and the crackhouses and the home of prostitutes and drunks, beacause that is where the need is!
