A Quick Question...

CladDog

New member
...for those who own the 505 and 705. Assuming both have the 6" 3khz coils, would either detector have a problem positively identifying a dime at 8" in mild soil? I could not find the answer to this question in the forum. thanks.

The only coin I found yesterday at the park was a clad dime at about 6" in rocky soil. It was the Digger coil running in AM, sensitivity at 25 and Multi-tone (2:geek:. It rang out loud and clear. So I think 8" in mild soild with out other trash masking is certainly reasonable.

If I remember correctly it was 36-38. The 28 tone pitch, solid sound and numbers in that range convinced me to dig more than a specific number. Knew it wasn't a qtr or penny.

My experience showed that the ID was one notch higher than the other coils on pennies dimes & quarters (silver or clad).
No big deal. If the tone is clean clear and coin sized..DIG IT!. These new Coiltek 3kHz coils hit on high conductors HARD!
Nickels won't ID well at all. I've dug a few, but it was more because I was experimenting rather than what the TID said.
