A quick trip around the RV park:wiggle:

I stay at an RV park for the days (and nights) I work. Today I decided to take a quick run around with the F70 to see what I might scare up.

GB ran between 93-99, and lots of EMI due to the buried cables.
After several pull tabs and gum wrappers, I went for broke, being I was starting to run out of daylight.

Discrim- 65
Speed- DE
Sens- 25
Thresh- -3
Tones- dP (gosh I love this)
Notch- 26 to give the nickles a chance

The result- 3 pre-1980 pennies and a very crusty quarter.

I only went after targets less than 3 inches deep. Found several hitting between 81-91 that were 5-7 inches according to PP. Just didn't have the time or patience to see what was there.

For me, not bad for a 45 minute jaunt, And it got me out and moving.

I still have to put in more time with DP, I know it is one of mud's favorites and you can hunt without looking at the screen much when you learn the sounds of targets.
4H for coin and jewelry hunting is still my favorite, 1, 1F and 2F for deeper coin hunting.

I do hunt a site that had a bunch of campers going back about 100 years and foil is a problem in some areas.
On the many gold rings I have dug 8 of them came in at foil, maybe half you could have found with your disc setting at 26.
The other half would be smaller and might come in under that level.

Usually I will hunt from 0-4 on disc in not so trashy sites, maybe go up to 15 when I get tired of trash, at that camping site 20-21 is about as high as I dare to go but that usually knocks out the most common smaller pieces...still taking a chance I won't be finding some tiny gold targets and thin chains, however, even at those low 20's settings.

I have to go check this so don't quote me but I think I read something in a Rocket Tom post about notching.
I believe it is not the same as adjusting the disc, when you move into using notch it might just knock out a larger section and go past that number a bit, not just level out at that 26 so you are actually discing a bit more than you realize...I think.
I don't think my notch setting has ever gone above default 1 since I started swinging my F70.
Again, this might not be true so don't quote me but I will go research this a bit more.

I only set it up like that because of time. This campground is ALL fill dirt with a base layer about 2"-3" down. The tabs were ringing in at 32 and the wrappers were in around 21-25. Also, at about 4" its either frozen or wet. So I figure I was getting a few falses at depth. Still, a fun time before heading in to work.
