OK all you Mr. Wizards, here's a legit question. What is it in olive oil that actually removes the crud off of coins? Is it fatty acids or perhaps something to do with olives.? If it's fatty acids then take a look at this chart.

----------------------- Saturated
----------------------- g/100g
Animal fats
Lard --------- 40.8

Vegetable fats

Coconut oil --------- 85.2
Palm oil --------- 45.3
Cottonseed oil --------- 25.5
Wheat germ oil --------- 18.8
Soya oil -------- 14.5
Olive oil -------- 14.0
Corn oil -------- 12.7
Sunflower oil -------- 11.9
Safflower oil -------- 10.2
Rapeseed/Canola oil -------- 5.3

Coconut oil has way more fatty acids than olive oil. 85.2 vs 14.0
Wouldn't coconut oil be better for soaking coins?
Inquiring minds want to know.
