A simple sure fire way to dig more small low conductive stuff

Set the Safari to coin and jewelry (conductive audio) mode. Just disc. out -10 only. You will now get a low tone on most low conductive metal and a HIGH TONE on most iron and high conductive metal. Just check your meter when you get a high tone. If you beach hunt this setup will find you the small gold and platinum you may miss with the other high end beach machines. It works well colonial relic hunting picking out small pewter buttons other detectors miss.

You are right. And old stuff to the coin from 1620 Safari ID 13, Brooch fragment silver Safari ID dont ask why 18.

Tried this set up briefly in a local park today. Appears to detect more deeply than the pinpoint mode. Saw a new icon on the screen - or at least I don't recall seeing it before - a round object with "Fe" above it. Maybe indicates a token or Fe coin. Will try this set up at the beach in the future, use factory standard Coin-Jewelry or Coin mode at the park. Ground is getting too dry & hard and I don't want to dig nearly everything.

If iron sneeks in as a low tone you can safely take out -9 down to -7.

That little Fe meant you were in the ferrous mode as opposed to Cu (Conductive) mode. I wouldn't have know that except I have been discussing it here with some of the guys. Onus

I cant say about the Safari, but on my Quattro that icon is for a Ferrous based coin, i get it often, all the new UK pennies are copper washed ferrous, and i know for a fact my machine is set up in conductive< (i never use ferrous tones, on either the Quattro or my E-Trac). I agree with the post at the top, defiantly the best way to run, especially on the beach. Don't be afraid to use manual sensitivity, Dig to -6 and you'll never miss a good find, (though you will dig some junk). I still use my Quattro for coinshooting on the beach, its ace.
