A small pile of clad but mostly for an example of a tip for GTI users to turn pennies into quarters with one little move.

With limited time I stopped at a school on the way to the store - for about 30-40 minutes. I dug all these corroded coins up next to the school in extremely dry and hard dirt and all the quarters ID'ed as pennies.. This tip fits this scenario perfectly. If you are a GTI owner and don't waste time digging pennies, or all the pennies you come across, here is a way to turn those pennies into quarters.

I have stated many times how critical it is to pinpoint correctly with a GTI. When you get a signal and the display says penny - pinpoint it and if it still says penny, continue to hold the pinpoint button down and move the coil around ever so slightly until the display says quarter or remains on cent. Most of the time it will switch to quarter on the display and that's what it will be and those cents will turn into quarters.

I've dug quite a few quarters that rang up as pennies but I'll have to try that pinpointing thing. Thanks.

Nice finds:thumbup:

A small pile of clad is better than no pile of clad:biggrin:Thanks for the tip Uncle Willy:detecting:Happy Hunting!:)

I've not had a penny ring up as a quarter yet.
Usually with my Ace it will bounce back and forth
on penny or dime if isn't sure but never got a quarter.

Thanks for the tip, Uncle Willy! How do I access the video you mentioned about pulling coins out a certain way that helped people with bad backs? Do I just type in Uncle Willly's video or coin popping or what?
