I have always liked the Sunray five double d it was smooth and could beat the Minelab 8 in depth and trash......

Now I know their many coils out there looking forward to hearing from all E hunters

butterfly? wot ? s12? excellerator? What have you .....I wanna here your comments and what you like about your favorite.... I have been researching around the Minelab forums

I know we have a huge knowledge base here with Hundreds of years IN DIRT experience ...if not Thousands.... also state your favorite application for the coil beach, park, trash lot

construction,etc.

OK, probably my most used coil, is the Sunray X8, followed by the X5, however I am liking the new pro coil a lot for a big coil, and have been using it quite a bit.. it definitely misses stuff though, well maybe not misses but doesnt respond to them as fast as the smaller ones in iron.. I went over a small area with it fairly slow, and went back over with teh 8 and 5 and both found stuff teh pro missed, even surface stuff, or I was swinging it to fast as I didnt compare after finding them.. I however swung the same speed with all the coils.

I also have the X12 which is fine also, but with the explorer always made me lower sens to be stable.. will try it one day on the etrac soon to see if it will stay stable at higher sensitivity.. the X12 seems hotter on nickels to me.. I got alot with the x12 for some reason

I like the joey, but had 3 fail on me, so never got another one.. The platypus was OK also, but was really bad in hot rocks as are the other ellipticals that I have tried.. if your hunting wide open clear areas then they all work good and I suspect the pro will do as good as any.. Me I am in iron most all the time.. my main concern is picking the stuff off in it not depth... the X8 gets plenty deep for most situations, gets good separation and works well in iron and is very stable even at higher sens.. although in iron I seldom go above 24 sens in manual

I'm going to need a small coil soon for separating treasure from trash, so I'm also interested in this topic. As a newbie, though, I haven't yet been able to figure out what a "WOT" coil is. Anyone care to enlighten me?

May still have the crown but i am hearing interesting things from the fields in Great Britain bout the ButterFly coils....

:usaflag:Hey guys! I use the SunRay 5.5" X-5 for sidewalk edges and grassy strips next to city roads. It seems very stable and has good depth for it's size. I use it almost exclusively on the SE and will try it on the E-TRAC soon. There ya go . Happy huntin fellars.

Hi.

My absolute best coil for the explorer is the X5, when I need better coverage i got the X8.

Never used the stock coil much after i got those two coils.

I had the Minelab 8 Coiltec 15",platypus and the 10 by 5. Sold all 4 of them.

The Sunrays rule i believe.

What i want from sunray is a X (4by7) or even 4by8, I have a strong feeling they will be deep and stable coils when made at sunray

I'm sure all the above mentioned are good coils--but-------for a small coil, try the Excellerator 6" (EQ2)--you'll like it!!!----------Del

Have been following and gleaning what I can on the12X15 Butterfly.....called the monster by some the British Brethren and seems to be hot..... "OVER THERE"....

I have a 8 inch minelab in route and have feelers on the 5 and 8 sunray ....

.Please understand I am very happy with E-trac and the 11DD on it....

But being this unit will moving to the forefront .......of my 20 plus detector arsenal ......the extra coils will actually allow me to travel a little bit liter......

If you have experience with other coils please Chime IN Thanks ALL
