Ron and I set out to attempt a privy dig where the owner thought it might be. About 10" down it was all broken concrete! We decided to widen our test hole to get a better idea what was down there. Just under the surface Ron finds a huge cannon ball! well OK it turned out to be the long lost brother of the volley ball Wilson from the movie Castaway. I know this because it is a bowling ball with the name N. Wilson on it!
A little deeper I found a bottle. It had embossing on the bottom (Stanley Home Products), but it has a metal screw on lid so it is not that old. Then we hit the bottom so we filled her in. We did dig one more test hole and found some remains of a burned trash pit but no dice! filled her in too and got out the detectors for just over an hour.
Ron's cannon ball! OOPS! I mean WILSON!!!

Here is the bottle in the hole, and a cap gun I found later while detecting. Notice the name on the gun!!!

And here are my other digs. A 1948S Rosie, 3 wheats 42S, 42, 53D, a key, a 1950 play quarter, and the little thing with the hole is a knob for turning the wick up on an old lantern. I found the lantern top then looked for the knob in the hole because they usually have dates on them.
This one says Pat 1873, and 1883. I think I like the victorian hair clip the best. It has a lot of detail on it and is complete. The back is cool too!
