A tip for newbies and maybe some oldies - Slow twitching in trash for treasure..

I keep forgetting these little things I've learned over the years. This procedure requires a good deal of patience. If you don't have any then skip this post. This is for picking targets out of trash infested areas ( such as around picnic tables ) with the stock coil on the 250 or anything else. This is for areas where when you swing the coil at normal speed you get multiple beeps in one swing from all the trash Scan the area really, really, slow - just creeping along with the coil. When you get a hint of a different signal center the coil over that spot and "twitch it side to side only about an inch each way to isolate that target and identify it. Then move ever so slowly on to the next target. I picked several dimes out of a nest of tabs and caps the other day using the "slow twitch."

They'll be no more missin' with the slow, slow twitchin'-o' yea! cause they're more, more hittin' with the slow, slow twitchin', o' yea!

Great advice Bill.
I also use the fast twitch on my nickel hits to avoid digging up foil. I don't know how many time I got a good nickel hit only to have it be foil. When I find a good nickel signal. I twitch it fast, if it stays nickel than it is a nickel, if it moves its foil. This also worked on my 2nd gold ring (14k). It stayed solid nickel so I dug it

Yeah twitching works well on nickels and gold. It will also clear up a spooky signal on corroded coins.

On a serious note, I did use the slow twitch-it just seemed natural to do, so I guess I did it by accident- a few days ago when I found that ring: too bad it was fake. Right before I got to the ring I hit a coin spill and the fireworks were on! Sounded like WWIII. By slowly "twitching" in little increments I was able to kinda separate the coins for pinpointing. Now that you made me more aware of what I was doing, I'm anxious to get back out. I think this technique really makes the Ace stand out.

Yeah the twitch works well on several things. On shallow coin spills you can use a pinpointer to isolate them.

I say someone do the twitch on a youtube.com video so we can get this twitch. I would love to see a video of this technique. Please!!:wiggle: Do the Twitch on youtube.

It's mind boggling simple. Just hold your coil over the target and whip it side to side rapidly, a couple of inches each way for regular twitching and about an inch or less each way for slow twitching..
