Very nice week/weekend here in New England. 50's to 60's still during the day! Yea! Back in April i finally got the nerve to ask a land owner if i could cut thru his property to get to an area in the wood were I thought i would have some luck detecting. He was more than happy to let me! Let me tell ya folks, when asking land owners to do so, it all about how you present yourself! Be nice and pleasant to folks and they will most likely be back to ya! Hey, the worse they can say is NO! So ya move on and say thanks anyway for your time! Any ways, he gave me a little history lesson about the property that I did not know about. The road in back of his house was actually an old main road that dates back to the early 19th century to connect the two towns. Also he informed me of the old brick factory(i have yet to find the foundations! uggg). Its a pretty good walk, at least three or four miles of road, not counting many paths and other roads that go from this old main cart and horse road. Had a friend come with me this time who detects also with his older whites machine from the early 90's.We spent about 4 1/2 hours this morning out there. We had a great time. He found his finds first, a nice 1938 Washington quarter and a really neat old silver pendant. The next finds were mine. I was using the 705 with the 3KHz coil! Sens at 30 all day long and GB stayed at 11(did not use tracking at all today). Snagged a few nice silver dimes after about an hour of detecting the main road. Then we kinda strayed form the road just swinging off the paths and that's where i got the button. Not a bad button. One of the nicest ones I have found. We started heading back around 11:30 walking the main road but detecting the sides of the old road(not the middle) and that's when that sweet 44 showed up on the display! Never fluctuated at all. I new it had to be a half! It sure was! It was a good day of detecting for both of us. Good friends having a little fun! I gotta tell ya, was expecting to find much older stuff (those pre 1850's coins, i know ya out there!), but we have many hours left of going back to that area! What a great hobby! And what a great country! Many thanks to the land owner for letting us do this! Happy Hunting All...Emmett
