A very unproductive day

Today after spending almost 7 hours in the woods, I came home with only 2 relics. A bark spud and a Dr Kilmers Swamp-Root Kidney Liver & Bladder Cure bottle. The bottle was on top of the ground. 100+ years ago, lumbermen would cut down hemlock tress and peel the bark off with a bark spud. The bark was sent to tannerys to tan hides. Hemlock wood, having no commercial value was left to rot in the woods.

Nice finds. Years ago I found a Dr. Kilmer's Swamp Root, Kidney Liver & Bladder Cure but, unfortunately, my wife accidentally dropped it and broke it. Haven't found another.

I found this one a few weeks back. The detector said "Aldwell's syrup pepsin bottle, mfg by pepsin syrup co in Monticello, IL" and sure enough, that's what it was. Are these little bottles for sale somewhere...I'll unload this one if they are.

I also found this DC hotel token there, and one 1911 wheat pennie and misc junk.

It looks like a beer bottle. Garry/OH, you would make a fortune if you could manufacture a detector that identified bottles.

Hah! Iv'e only found one bottle with a detector and that was years ago. It was buried under ground inside a barrel hoop.

I've never dug a bottle either. It was in a farm field where there was a house up until the early 1900's. There's metal junk everywhere that's been plowed every year for nearly a century. I'll have to take a small coil out there sometime and see if I can find some coins in the junk.
