A Young Soldier's Viewpoint

"Folks,
Okay, I need to rant. I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson. As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point of my rant.

Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people, the American people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood, and even Congress sees the need to hold a "moment of silence" for his passing?

Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America. Where is their moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate sacrifice?

Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good riddance," and "thank God for IEDs?" When did this country become so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop Icon?"

I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have. Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Remember these five words the next time you think of someone who is serving in the military; "So that others may live..." Isaac"

and getting my share of losing what I had served for. Working backwards...without respect people who deserve it will never get it. The 'world' - not the USA as being 'the world' but the physical as opposed to spiritual world - flips everything upside down. Good is bad, bad is good. Heroes used to be those who did the right things for the good of people. Heroes now are those who makes mega-bucks and play sports or entertain. They don't put their life on the line.

So without respect they respect no one and can't even respect themselves. The one they disrespect the most is God. They will do anything they can to keep God at bay. They would rather live sick and perverted lives than respect and honor God. After all to respect and honor God would make a change in their lives for the good but then they would have to give up being selfish, loving money more than God, doing harmful things instead of helping others. etc.

Only when those who are not showing respect for God change will He heal our land and respect can prevail once again. Unfortunately, I don't see those people willing to change and doing everything in their power to fight against God. As Jesus prayed :"Forgive them Father, they know not what they do". We also have to pray for them and hope their hearts soften and they start to hear God calling them.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I have lost respect for sports players, many entertainers, etc. because they help to lead others away from God...not to Him.

God bless our military..past, present and future, those alive and those who have given their lives.

Even the Constitution under which we said we would defend is being destroyed. We have to get back our God respecting nation. Fighting against one another though like a civil war would play well into the hands of the Koran loving nations as they want us all dead...and if we do it to each other in their eyes so much the better.

God Bless this young soldier and all who have fought and died for our freedom in our nation! May He help those who are still living and the families of all living or dead! That is all I'm gonna say, for most wouldn't want me to get on my soap box, but I certainly agree with the post and viewpoint of the young soldier! Amen! God Bless! Betty
