AA Battery pack Terminal Corrosion

midalake

TROLL
I have an AA battery pack for a GT that had some salt water exposure and now the little spades that made contact with the unit are dull and not giving good transfer of power. Is there something that can be done with some type of paint? Without having to get re-chromed?

Thanks Dave

When the batteries leak it seems to do something to the metal of the clips and hard to repair. If it was me and I didn't want to buy a new pack I would probably clean then the best i can with some very find sand paper to get the corrosion off then would coat the connections with some of that dielectric grease so the batteries would make a good connection and this might help from the corrosion coming back. Like I say this is what i would try, but don't know if this is the answer or not, but worth a try.

Hi Rick

Its not from battery leak, but from salt water exposure. I had my AA pack in a ziplock that failed and let some water in. Its just that they are dull. Running grease will not work because I only use as back-up if my recharges fail. I see that there are some coating paints and pens on the market that provide electric contact. I have never used them.

Has anyone used any of these pens or paints? For electric connections?

Thanks Dave

Try cleaning the battery and battery terminals with a pencil eraser.
