Ace 250 On bay

{I think I MAY have used it an hour. When I purchased the detector I had it sent to Garrett so they could SUPER TWEEK the Pinpoint mode so it would pinpoint as deep as it would detect. Detector is safetly contained in a Browning bag which is fully padded, has two sides and multiple pockets to hold your headphones, pinpointers, hand diggers, etc. It is an OUTSTANDING, DEEP DETECTING, LIGHT WEIGHT detector. The bag alone was $100. I paid $315 for both.}

Found on ebay.
Is there anything to this?
Thanks!!!

think he wants to know if there is anything to having it sent back to Garrett and them Boosting the pinpointing. But i may be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

I think he found this one on ebay and wants to know if it sounds like a fair deal. I could be wrong, too, though!

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything on e-bay. Just my two cents worth. Happy Hunting!:)

Yes that is what I am asking ,guess I didn't make myself clear. Is there anyting to this?

You can get the ACE 250 new for 212.00 and you can get a Garrett bag for 29.00 brand new. The sending it in to have it tweeked I don't know but I think the 250 is deep enough stock. But, you will love it. It's an awesome machine!:garrett:

I wouldn't buy on ebay either.
It seems Ebay has had its share of problems as of late anyway,
but I wouldn't trust any of my resources over the inte-net or to anyone else.

the price sounds kind of high to me as oakman pointed out. you can have a new one for less money and not have any concerns about problems with the detector. you can have a new ace 250 and a new pro pointer for around $26 more than what is being asked for on ebay. i would rather have a pro pointer than a case any day. as for the tweaking, i haven't ever not been able to pin point a target that i have detected. i have had a real hard time finding what was detected without a pro pointer sometimes. digging times are quicker a pro pointer too. just a thought.
if additional coils come with the one on ebay, that may be a different story.

Contracted Garrett on this super tweeking and this is what they said:

Hi Mike,

Apparently there is no truth to this statement. I checked with our technical manager and he said there is nothing we can do to super tweek the pinpoint mode to give it more depth. He said they all have to be tuned to a certain specification.

My opinion about the bay is a little different.

I've been on the bay since '98 and have over 1700 feedback and I've never gotten a negative.

Most of what I've done has been selling, but I've bought at least a couple hundred items and never had any major problems.

Common sense is utmost before bidding.

#1 is the seller's feedback, including the 5-star categories. Especially when buying a relatively high ticket item like a detector.

If the seller doesn't have excellent feedback, or very little feedback, don't bid. Plain and simple.

Next is to ask any questions you have about the detector that weren't answered in the listing. You should always have questions for the seller, if for no other reason than to see how the seller responds. If you're not comfortable with the seller's answers, don't bid.

Read between the lines. If the seller says the detector just got back from the company for a check up, that could be. But more likely it was sent in to repair a problem.

And if the seller says something that sounds fishy, like a company "super tweaking" a detector for depth, be very careful.

There are a lot of legit reasons for someone to sell a detector. The one you want to avoid is someone selling because it doesn't work right. Or someone selling who doesn't know if it works right.

I can complain about a lot of stupid, greedy things the bay has done. Like forcing people to use Paypal which they own and the ever increasing fees.

But they have made it safer for buyers by not allowing sellers to leave negative feedback anymore. No more retaliatory feedback from sellers. And the 5-star seller ratings are anonymous, which makes them a very good way to judge a seller.

I too buy and sell on ebay with a 100% rating the only thing I wanted to know was about the tweeking and if it is true., someone on here said to contact Garrett and find out if it is true. I did and was just letting anyone that wanted to know what they said. Thanks
