Ace 250 or Teknetics 4000 for wife

ColoradoGoldMan

New member
My wife has decided to join me out in the Field and she wants to do some hunting with me. I thought well the Ace 250 would be good for a starter but then I 'm thinking maybe the Tek Delta 4000 would work better for new bee.
I' have a chance to pick up a used one for a good price but with the soil here in Colorado being so hot the Ace 250 maybe a better choice. She is a very fast learner but I want her to have a really good time before she has to worry about a lot of tuning. I been a Garrett user for 40 years and have used ever thing from a Hunter BFO to the new GTI 2500. What do all you experts think?

Who want's to use a detector that everyone is using with success? Who really needs to dig that many coins and rings? For the life of me I can't believe anyone likes swinging an ultra light weight powerful machine? Really, the Sniper coil that gets right up to steel to suck coins that others miss - who needs that? Look at what the accessory coils cost compared to other brands. Don't you want to pay $169.00 for a coil? The Ace uses those cheap AA batteries. Don't people like paying good money for a couple of 9 volt? What about the detector cost itself? Why not spend $500 on a detector that does the same as a $200 can do? Wouldn't you want to pay for your detector in 5 years instead of a year with the Ace? I don't know a good reason to buy the Ace but I'm sure one will come to mind.

The 250 is the only way to go. Most bang for the buck. Easy to learn and easy to use. A real coin magnet and it's fun to use which is a plus. When I field tested the prototype I thought Garret was pulling a joke - putting all those features into a $200 detector.

LOL This is my 1st thought too. The Tek 4000 looked to be real simple to use also, and the price is about the same. I guess the Ace is a no brainer. Thanks to all who replyed.

My first experience with the ACE 250 was with my grandkids. The 9 and 11 yr olds used the ACE 250 and pulled coins where my BHID did not. ???
Anyway they dropped it , kicked it, and did about everything else including a dunk under a water fountain. The thing still works great, was easy for them to learn and is now my land detector of choice.. YES, it is a FUN machine (and tough)

Nawwwww... :rofl::lmfao::rofl:
Actually, I wouldn't have a clue to the merits of 4000..
Never have seen one..
All I can say is you can't really go wrong with a 250.
Even if by some slim chance you didn't like it, which is
fairly unlikely, the demand for them is high, even if used.
So it would be easy to sell if one decided to upgrade.
But... I'm cheap.. And basically of the opinion that the 250
can grab 4/5 of what even the high end machines can find.
Most of the extra money is for bells, whistles, lights and
blinky things. Not so much actual metal finding ability. :/
Or at least for the amount of extra money required.
I'm still using a 250 with the three coils, and am still
satisfied with it for now. Don't feel any real need to upgrade.
So that's gotta tell you something about the 250..
Lots of bang, for fairly little bucks..

Well I can honestly say I've owned the tek delta 4000 and i was very disapointed in mine the auto ground balance i guess was alot of the problem, living up here in maine our ground is pretty mild for the most part until you get in the mountainous part, but the plus side of the machine is it's lighter than the tesoro's and the pinpointer and ground depth feature were dead on but othere than, that that's all i got to say

Just ordered a Ace 250 sport pack and a 10"x14" Excelerator DD coil for it. Should help with the soil here in Colorado. She'll probably kick my tail, I think I spend to much time fiddling with my 2500 and not enough time hunting:twodetecting:
Again thanks to all. HH
