after reading so many rave posts about how good the ace is ,i thought maybe i was being a little hard on it. so this morning i hit one of the local schools for a couple hours,finding $13.85 and a 9 carat gold ring set with either a ruby or garnet in it .this you might say is good ,however if the blankty,blank pin pointer had been working properly who knows how much more i could have found. what i'm wondering about is there anybody else out there that has expierenced similar problems and what did you do to cure it short of sending it back to the manufacture i tried that through shop where it was bought and was told that there is nothing wrong with it. what happens is when you press the pin pointer button is that it wipes the whole signal out, repeated pressing of the button sometimes works. it's very frustrating!! all of my finds this morning were found using the x method and raising and lowering the coil to figure out how deep the target could be. i have other machines but this is the one that started me into detecting,still like it,even with it's fault. blowfly hh

It does that on every target? Because if you hold the coil directly over your target close to the ground then press the PP button you will detune the target out completely. Try raising the coil 2 inches above the ground over the target. Press the PP button then lower your coil down to the ground. You should hear the tone start to rise.

thank you khouse your the first person to explain it properly to me. i juist went out into the yard and tried it,it works perfectly.now i don't have a defunct 250 anymore,but i am getting over run with detectors.one for each hand:and a spare slung across my back just in case lol blowfly

A detector in each hand and one over your shoulder! And what's wrong with that? Sounds very normal to me.

I have found something about my ace 250 that amazes me every time I go out, when I hit a target, I sweep with the pin point, and locate the traget precisely, then I'll pull away and hit it again, then hold the coil over the target still, and behold, if I am sitting over a dime it will hang in the silver range, but if it is a hunk of aluminum it will jump over to the aluminum range. 99% of the time it is right as I have dug up behind it and found the aluminum, and I have to say, this seems strange to me, that the 250 would have the ability to target in still mode. What do ya think about that?
