ACE 250 Questions

Bernie

Based on advice from Uncle Willy and others, I purchased an ACE 250 as a backup for my GTI 2500. So far I have been surprised at how well this little "yella fella" works. I have a couple of questions: Is it worth while to buy the larger coil or the sniper coil? I know that the sniper is for "trashy" areas, but I don't know how much junk would make it worth while to use the sniper. I also has a situation in a school play ground that has lots of foil, etc., where the detector starting giving constant signals that went up and down the scale. I turned it off, then back on, but that didn't help. After I moved to another area, it stopped giving those returns. Any ideas?

They are both great coils one goes deeper and covers more area.,and the sniper gets some depth but is great in trash areas.I have both and use the sniper coil more than the others.Ist sniper then large coil then stock.

A playground in Orange city Fl. drove my MD'er crazy. It had high power lines running under the playground. I was wondering if that was good for the kids.

I use my sniper in all playgrounds. You will get stuff others have missed. I can get much, much closer to the playground equipment than the stock coil can and have gotten rings others couldn't detect.
If you have an empty field and there is a piece of trash next to a gold ring. That is all it takes. You may not know the ring was there. Would it have paid for itself? How much trash does it take? Sniper does separate targets better than the stock coil, fact. Stock coil cover ground quicker. I would never use the sniper on the beach or hunting in a field. So, I use it everywhere else.

Usually good sites to MD aren't real plentiful. I don't mind taking my time and cleaning up on all the goodies.

Get the sniper coil! It works so very well on that machine. Then.......take the ACE/Sniper Coil along with your GTI 2500 hunts. It is a great coil to work close to metal objects ie sidewalks, fences, play equipment and really helps out working in the woods relic hunting, as it can bet into some tight bushy areas where other coils can't and still maintain some decent depth. Don't get the large coil, as you have a lot of depth already with the GTI 2500.

In this area of constant signals how high did you have the sensitivity set and were you scrubbing with the coil or scanning an inch or so off the ground? The decision on the other two coils is a matter of personal choice and if they will be beneficial in the areas you hunt.

THe Sniper works great anywhere, is a snap to pinpoint with, lightens the load, and is a killer in trashy areas. The large coil on the other hand is heavier but covers more ground and gets another 2-3 inches in depth over the stock coil, and is lousy in trashy areas because it sees to many targets at one time. So you have to decide where you will be hunting and if either of these coils will benefit you there.

I can't understand how you bought an ACE 250 as a backup for your GTI 2500!!!!! You have to be joking  ACE 250 LOVES trush like pull tabs aluminium paper wires etc....... is amazing how mamy noises it make per second.....anyway ACE 250 is a very fast machnne for coins but also for all caind of rubish.

I bought the sniper and an extra rod when I ordered the Ace 250. I have used the sniper coil quite a bit now.
The small size of the coil not only makes it easy to pinpoint your target but you can get in and around
close to trees and foundations of houses. The sniper coil does'nt cost much at all. If you buy
it remember to get an extra rod;this makes changeing coils a snap!

I think you are in the right direction. The sniper is a killer on the 250, and like
John says, you already have a 2500, so not much point in getting a 9x12 for
the ace. If I was to buy a BIG coil, I'd get it for the 2500 instead.
I imagine the 2500 with the stock coil goes as deep as the Ace 250 with
the 9x12. Maybe deeper..
Now, if I all you had was the 250, I say get both the sniper and the 9x12..
That way you are covered for anything.
But you gotta 2500 too... You can bypass the 9x12. :detecting:
