Ace 250 right fit for me?

Tom Miles

New member
I am just getting back into detecting again. My previous detectors were a tesoro deleon and tejon and i have had a couple whites detectors qxt and idx. I am wondering if the 250 compares with any of these detectors and if it would be worth the 100 dollars i found one for in local pawn shop, that is if its still there. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Tom the ace250 would do great plus the coils you can purchase, I would get the sniper coil and a good set of headphones and go at it, hope it helps, Hank

I would say it's close to the idx or the Deleon. Not more than an inch in depth difference after you learn it. I did a comparison at the same school over the same search area and the Silver umax and the Ace were about equal. The biggest difference is a slower sweep speed (not much) since the Ace has a little slower recovery time. It's not that bad, though, as I still can pinpoint in motion.

Hi,tom,You cannot go wrong with the 250.It is a great land machine as well as a very good beach machine. For wet sand notch out everything left of nickel and run at four bars senseitivity. It should not false.I have been land and beach hunting in Delaware for years.love the 250 HH Wayne in Delaware

100.00 buy it . i just bought one on ebay for 150.00 i am still waiting for it in the mail. this machine is a great intermediate unit. cant go wrong.....for that price..

For $100, you really can't go wrong. If you find you do not like it you might be able to make $50 bucks on it in a sale. Give it a whirl!

Many of the detectors out there in this price range DO NOT HAVE VCO pinpointing. The Ace 250 does; you don't have to do a song and dance X-ing the target and hope you find it when you dig. The Ace 250 has five different modes you can chose while most of the other detectors do not. For the price, $212 dollars you cannot go wrong.
Also the Ace is for the most part trouble free. I have had mine seven years and not even a hint of a problem. I'd find out how much the detector is. If it's no longer there don't worry about it. Your probably better off with a new one anyway. $212 is a steal in any MD market.
