Ace 250 - Should I change the Batts??

Down to one bar on the display.... I've been watching to see if it acts strange but still running fine. Anybody know ? Does it just shut off or doe's it start acting strange?

I usually change mine when its down to one bar unless I'm finishing a hunt or don't carry spares.
I've never let it run out so not sure how that one bar affect the outcome of the ACE

i generally change at one bar also. never had it act funny on one bar though, change it just to be sure.

FWIW, I recharge my batteries after the hunt where the meter bounces between 2 and 3 bars for the first time. This system has given me good life out of my rechargeables. I carry a set of backups in my truck but have never had occasion to use them. At the end of the detecting season, I put them in my remotes and stuff around the house and buy new backups in the Spring even though I probably will never need them. I've been using one set of 2500mah Energizers for over 500 hours.

Chris

PS To answer your question, low batteries seem to affect my Garrett's including my Ace 250. I seem to get more falsing and lose a bit of depth. That might merely be my perception, never having actually tested it.

Yeah man, I'd change 'em out if I were you. Ya don't want it to peter out on ya in the middle of your next hunt:)

I would definitely change batteries at that point. It starts to deteriorate with it's performance when the batteries weaken. Any idea how many hours you got on a set of batteries?

No Idea, Same set as when I got it, also the cold I'm sure got some of the power. Maybe 25-30? hours? I'll change em' out and try to keep track on the next set. I usually take the old batts and put em in remotes as well. Thanks for the input yall!

At 1 bar you have about 1 more hour of good hunting. Then it gets as Bill says "squirrly". Really the only way to see it for your self is to continue running the machine.

I never go out with one bar on the graph. When I did it would die unexpectedly by going erratic and squawking, or just fade out and disappear. I use rechargables and always carry a fully charged back up set.
