ACE 250 v Tesoro Silver Umax an others

thanks for the tips Mick and everybody else that commented yeah had some great responses all postitive , Well I should have one by the end a next week so I spose I'I soon find out for me self ....I appreciate all the comments and the views , advice and tips Ive received here have certainly givin the ACE 250 the big

well the 250 arrived today , first impression's Ok made not as slick as a Tesoro but alot better that a BH at least no steam creak like a Tesoro , quite a bit heavier an not as well balanced as Tesoro ,, took it out in the test garden for play "I hear ya test gardens a no way to judge " but I reckon I they give ya a good idea aleast , impressed to say the least it smokes the Silver Umax for depth aleast in the test garden , hits hard on small coins at the 5" range and ID's em correctly @sens 5 in cion mode the Silver cant findem at min disc with max sense an only hits on em in all metal lossing them completly once flicked into disc ... It also hits with its belltone on a 50 cent burried @ 10" in All metal sens@ max TID jumps up an down abit but the tone is accurate you'l'd digg it no mistake , the Silver cant even register this 50 cent regardless of setting ...I notice the PP drops out now an then but the little yeller fella's lookin good cant wait for a feild test , keep in mind the Silver performs much better in the field than it does in my test garden and easily finds those same size coins at 5 inchs an more quite often ..

Good luck with the Ace.
The 50c will show up at notch 7 or bounce up to 8, giving a scrappy belltone. One of a good clues it's a 50.
the Ace will take a bit of getting use to, but I think that you will like it.
Mick Evans.

If he knocks out the Tabs, he'll miss the 5c and 10c coins. If he practices with the tabs and the coins, they do tend to bounce around a certain way, so all is not lost. It's not perfect, but can improve his odds.

thanks for tips Mick , I tryed to edit the above post earlier as the tone wasnt entirely accurate on the 50c it jumped from tone to tone but not much it belltoned 80-90% of pass's no dout a digger the ID jumped about , yeah it aint perfect but surely gives some nice lil extra options by the way of TID an I welcome it  It also done ok on a penny burried at 7" would belltone on first sweep everytime but on closer examination would jump back an forth to iron tone an ID as iron...I 'd dig it ...seemed to not mistake small iron all in pretty good lil performer for the $$ just the fact that can run it in AM an use the tones on shallower targets is a plus over the Silver for me more efficient than constantly thumb'n the disc in my view , also I dont think PP'n is gunna present any dramas thanks to the tips I got from you guys an espeacialy khouse's video TUT thankyou !

I'm glad that you are enjoying it. I haven't spent a huge amount of time focusing on the audio system as yet. I tend to do it more intuitively, but I think that if I spend some specific time focused on it, then there is more to be gleaned out of it. Coins generally give a fully rounded tone. Regardless of whether they are on edge, they still come in the same notches. Most other detectors will read a coin on edge, a notch higher than if it was flat to the coil.
There is a second pinpoint method for the Ace as well. When you go into pinpoint and centre the coil over the target, release then re hit the pinpoint button again. This will detune it. You will now have a 3 inch wide signal that usually only allows the front half of the coil to be active. Once you have centred the target, push the coil forward till you lose the signal. When you lose the signal, pull the coil back till you hear the target again. Stop there and the target will be in the middle of the cut out in the middle of the coil. Very accurate.

Mick: Thanks for the pinpointing hints. Your hints along with the video posted earlier have really made pinpointing much easier. :clapping:
